Peace & Rhythm is a record label and DJ crew based in Massachusetts, NYC and Guadalajara MX that formed in 2014. Since that time, the operation has expanded into music promotion, digital content, design, booking and curation, in addition to 20+ vinyl releases, covering a range of contemporary Latin, psychedelic, electronic, afrobeat and punk artists and dance-music remixers from the US, Latin America, Europe and Japan. The imprint is launching a podcast, cassette club and vinyl VIP subscription plan, in addition to regularly presenting live music and DJs in New England and NYC.
Created and run by DJs Andujar, Bongoheadand Studebaker Hawk, the label in the past twelve months alone released three full-length albums and a remixes 12", toured the US, Latin America, Asia, Spain and Canada in support of the brand, created the Greenfield Psych Fest, curated the Dean's Beans Organic Coffee Latin Music stage at the Green River Festival (for the 3rd year in a row), collaborated with Lincoln Center's ¡Vaya 63! series, appeared at Bogotá's Festival Centro and several other fests, managed two large vendor markets, and guested on a good handful of international podcasts and radio shows. Inevitably, there are several full-length releases underway for 2019.
The brand has found success with the "wax takeover" concept, where the crew presents at pop-up events in record stores, vintage markets, galleries, breweries and coffee shops, reaching new fans directly with music and merch. The label has found great fulfillment working together with artists as diverse as Latin Grammy-winning all-female mariachi group Flor de Toloache, the heady and danceable psychedelic funk of Big Mean Sound Machine, Cuba's rock & roll rebel numero uno, Ivan Fariñas or tropical pop artist C.A.M.P.O.S.(who's P&R album featured music in the Netflix series "On My Block".) The label is also enjoying creative projects with the immigrant-beat of NYC-Colombian champeta band MAKU Soundsystem, the inspired synth-pop of Home Body, disco-cumbia all-stars Locobeach and NYC afrobeat squad Kokolo, among many others.
